Building Media and Information Literacy Competencies among Youth for Civic Engagement in Kenya
The Africa Centre for People Institutions and Society (ACEPIS), supported by UNESCO, conducted a 3-day online Training of Trainers workshop on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) for over 200 young people from 47 counties across Kenya. This initiative was part of the Multi-Donor Programme on Freedom of Expression and Safety of Journalists by UNESCO that seeks to strengthen capacities of youth leaders to mainstream MIL competencies within their organizations’ strategies, plans, guidelines, and activities in Kenya. This forms part of wider efforts by UNESCO of ensuring strengthened community media policy and practice, while citizens, and particularly youth, are empowered through enhanced media and information literacy.
