Building Competencies of Young Women and Men in Eastern Africa in Media and Information Literacy to Tackle Disinformation about COVID-19 Pandemic
This project by Acepis facilitated by UNESCO and the EU through the #CoronavirusFacts project intended to equip young women and men in Eastern Africa to tackle spread of false information related to the Covid-19 pandemic. It meant to enhance their capacities to separate facts from falsehoods on mainstream and alternative media channels. The objective was to boost effectiveness of response strategies, besides minimizing confusion, fear and distrust between citizens and authorities. The project built on an initiative by Acepis and UNESCO on stimulating civic engagement through Media and Information Literacy
